If I Were a Little Boy, I'd Be a Girl
I bought a piano at the beginning of 2016 and spent a couple of months scratching out templates, phrases, chord progressions, esoteric concepts, essentially building up a sort of notebook of ideas I could draw from as the creative process continued. Eventually I wrote the first few minutes of the piece by the time Hello Ocho went on our month long tour in 2016. While on the road I stumbled across a few pianos at some of the places we stayed, and occasionally I'd have enough time to sit down and tap into the mindset of this piece I was working on back home. I would record clips and ideas on my phone and I actually ended up using quite a bit of the stuff that I came up with while on tour with Ocho. It's nice to look back at a section of music and think "oh yeah, that was conceived while the boys were cooking breakfast in Vermont".
